Calendula Infused Oil

I love Calendula oil and use it in many applications. It's very gentle and soothing. Calendula works wonderfully as an anti-inflammatory. It can be used for a variety of skin conditions or just to maintain your skins health. Here, I used it in a Bruise and Burn Salve
Most often, I mix it with coconut oil as a facial moisturizer and also mixed with chamomile and lavender essential oils for babygirl.

It can be quite expensive, so I like to make my own.

I use:
1 1/2c of dried Calendula flowers
a clean and dry 12oz jar
carrier oil (I use safflower)

Cover the herbs with oil and cover tightly. Leave to sit in a warm window sill or outside during really sunny days. I let the oil infuse for at least 6 weeks before using it, but prefer longer. 2 months and beyond is best.

Yes, that's a Trader J's sundried tomato jar :) I use all jars over again after washing. As you can see, I could'nt be bothered to remove the label to make it pretty :)

  1. That is so cool! I didn't know it was possible to get just the flowers to make oils at home.

  2. Yes, I keep a bag of dried flowers for different applications. You can use fresh too, if you have them!
